Disclaimer: My blog posts contain affiliate links, this means that at no extra cost to you, I may receive commission on some products mentioned in my blog. I only mention products I genuinely support and love so you can be confident I am only recommending products that have been tried and tested by me or my clients.

As a make up artist, I get asked all the time about skin care. What products are best, how to figure out your own skin tone, the specific products for different skin types etc. In skin care there are no silly questions as, lets face it, googling it makes us even more confused than when we began. In my opinion as with most things, I say, keep it simple and use what works for you. I have recently come across the most gorgeous brand of skin care, Glow Recipe. They are vegan (with the exception of their Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask), Cruelty free skin care, no plastic micro beads, which I personally love, got to think of the poor sealife in our oceans!

Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask

I literally love this mask, it can be used as an overnight face mask, apply just before sleep and rinse in the morning. It can also be used as a wash off mask. This product contains hyaluronic acid which is amazing for skin that needs its thirst quenching!

How To Use: Simply apply all over, leave for 10 minutes then rinse just before bed.

This Korean skincare fave is free of Parabens, Mineral Oil, Sulfates, Phthalates, Drying Alcohols, Synthetic Dyes. Vegan. Cruelty-free.

Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm

The most natural way to remove your make up! This gentle exfoliator helps dissolve dead skin cells whilst removing your make up and any dirt from the day in your skin. I love how it has vitamins A, C and E within which helps to keep your skin moisturised. It also contains blueberry extract which helps brighten your skin, what more could you ask for?!

Remember: This beautiful brand doesn’t contain microbes so you can feel you are doing a small change to the environment.

How To Use: Apply a generous amount and work into the face in circular motions, splash with a tiny bit of water to emulsify, further working it into the skin. Meditate and massage for 2 mins then thoroughly rinse. We can do this self care thing!

Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops

The Power of Niacinamide - This vitamin and antioxidant helps even out skin tone, reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation, minimize the appearance of pores, and support the skin barrier. This product would be amazing just before applying your make up, use a tiny amount and work into the skin and it will keep you bright eyed no matter what the British weather throws at you. It will keep your skin hydrated and can be used as your last product before bed. For best results I recommend using your little finger to glaze over your cheek bones and temples for a super cute dewy finish.

Watermelon Glow Ultra Fine Mist

How refreshing! A moisturising mist, perfect for the hot muggy weather, simply hold at a distance and freshen your skin and make up with a vitamin enriched glow. I use this at the very end of my make up services just before I leave, its so therapeutic for a client and smells absolutely amazing!

Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask

So you may have heard about retinol and its benefits, as always I like to explain the science behind certain products and like to alleviate some of the myths the media like to make up surrounding certain subjects.

Heres the science:

Retinol is a type of retinoid, which is made from vitamin A. Rather than removing dead skin cells as many other anti-aging and acne products do, the small molecules that make up retinol go deep beneath the epidermis (outer layer of skin) to your dermis.

Once in this middle layer of skin, retinol helps neutralize free radicals to boost the production of elastin and collagen. This creates a “plumping” effect that reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and enlarged pores. At the same time, retinol has an exfoliating effect on the skin’s surface that can further improve texture and tone.

Retinol can also help treat severe acne, as well as related scarring. It helps keep your pores unclogged by creating comedolytic agents to help prevent the formation of comedones or blemishes.

So retinol is an amazing ingredient to have, especially when working with the eye area where the skin is so delicate. This beautiful over night cream is amazing for taking away any puffiness and helps keep the delicate skin smooth and healthy. Perfect for those sleepless nights, whether you have been out partying or up with a new baby.

Watermelon Pink Juice Oil-Free Moisturizer

I would recommend this product for oily skin which we still needs to moiturise btw! This light weight moisturiser containing watermelon, hyaluronic acid serum and jasmine will quench thirsty skin whilst not weighing heavy on the skin. I also love it as a primer for underneath make up. Simply add a small amount glazed over the face, leave 10 mins to settle into the skin before applying make up. For an even lighter finish you can decant into your own pot and mix with your foundation, this acts as a tinted moisturiser and will leave a soft finish to the skin. throughout the day.

Glow Recipe - Lip Pop

The ultimate exfoliating lip balm, vegan and paragon free the lip pop adds a touch of colour to the lips whilst keeping your pout moisturised all day. Perfect for harsh weathers to help protect your lips for the elements. I love the fact it contains vitamin E too.

Rose Quartz Stone Facial Roller

Yes I thought it was an absolute beauty gimmick when I first heard about them too. However I love trying new things and thought I’d give this a go, it genuinely works! I usually just roll it along my face whilst watching Netflix, staring out the window or researching other beauty gimmicks (haha)! I can honestly say my skin feels fresher, brighter and it is weird but the odd spots I used to get on my chin don’t feel as bruised like since Iv been doing it. Below are some of the benefits of using a beauty roller…
